Work Permit Canada
If you want to work in Canada and be employed there, you need a special document called ‘Work Permit’ issued by Canadian authorities.
Types of Work Permit
Open Work Permit
An open work permit allows you to work for any company or employer in Canada.
There are a few exceptions:
♦ You cannot work with the employers: listed as ineligible on the list of employers that do not comply with certain regulations
♦ Employers who regularly offer strip tease, erotic dance, escort services or erotic massages.
An employer-specific work permit allows you to work in Canada according to certain conditions mentioned on your work permit, these conditions include:
♦ The name of specific employer is already listed on your permit.
♦ You’re only permitted to work for a certain time for your employer.
♦ A specific location where you can work.
If you’re submitting your application for an employer-specific work permit, the employer must follow certain steps and offer you a copy of a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) and an employment offer number to include on your work permit application.
