SDS applications are usually processed in about 4 to 8 weeks. Regular study permit applications can take 8 to 16 weeks depending on the visa office and time of year. We give you a realistic timeline at your first consultation.

No. Many jobs fall under the International Mobility Program (IMP), which is LMIA-exempt. Intra-company transfers, CUSMA professionals, and several youth and trade-agreement categories do not need an LMIA.

Usually up to 6 months per entry. The exact date is decided by the border officer when you arrive and stamped in your passport. Super Visa holders can stay up to 5 years at a time.

There is no fixed cut-off. Recent general draws have landed between 470 and 545. Category-based draws (healthcare, trades, French speakers, STEM) often invite people in the 380 to 470 range.

Most spousal files — inland or outland — are processed in about 10 to 14 months. Cases with missing evidence or genuineness concerns can take much longer.

Anywhere from a single day up to 3 years. The officer decides the length based on your reason for entry. For repeated travel, a multi-entry TRP of 1 to 3 years is common.

At least 30 days before your current status expires. Filing earlier is fine; filing late means you fall out of status and have to apply for restoration within 90 days.

Generally, people recognized as Convention refugees abroad or as Country of Asylum class members. The refugee must be outside their home country and unable to return safely.

Most streams require a genuine, full-time Alberta job offer. The Alberta Express Entry Stream can invite candidates without a job offer if they have a strong CRS and work in a priority sector.

Most adult citizenship applications are processed in about 12 to 24 months from submission to oath. Files with Residency Questionnaires take longer.

You keep your status — PR status does not expire just because the card does. You only need a valid card to board a commercial flight or train back to Canada from abroad.

Most Express Entry profiles receive an Invitation to Apply within 2–8 weeks of entering the pool, depending on CRS score and program draw cut-offs. After ITA, IRCC's service standard for PR processing is approximately 5–6 months. Edmonton applicants who qualify under AAIP's Express Entry stream gain an additional 600 CRS points, often shortening the wait significantly. Total timeline: typically 6–9 months from profile creation to PR landing.

AAIP has several streams, each with distinct criteria. Common requirements include a valid Express Entry profile (for the Alberta Express Entry Stream), an eligible occupation aligned with Alberta's labour needs, a minimum CRS score (currently around 300+ for targeted draws), proof of ties to Alberta (work experience, study, or job offer), language proficiency (CLB 7+ typically), and educational credentials assessed via ECA. Other streams like the Alberta Opportunity Stream require a full-time job offer in Alberta and 12+ months of work experience in the province.

Yes — as of 2026, IRCC continues to allow visitor-to-student transitions inside Canada under specific conditions: you must hold valid visitor status, have a Letter of Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI), meet financial and admissibility requirements, and apply before your visitor status expires. Processing typically takes 3–8 weeks. Note that you cannot begin studies until the study permit is approved.
