Visitor / Tourist Visa

A tourist visa (also known as visitor’s visa) is a temporary resident visa that allows visitors to enter Canada and live there for a limited time. It’s an official document that shows you meet all the requirements needed to visit Canada.

Most visitors get this visa if they want to travel to Canada for tourism, but you may also need Canadian Visa in case you need to transit through Canada to reach your destination.

How long you can stay in Canada with Visitor’s Visa?

With the tourist visa, visitors can stay for up to 6 months in Canada. When you enter Canada on a visitor’s visa, the officials at the border will review your documents and attach a sticker with the duration, it could be less or more than 6 months. This is the date that you will need to leave the country, you might also be given a document called a visitor record with the date you need to leave by.

In case you don’t get any such stamp, you can stay in Canada for 6 months starting from the day you entered Canada unless your passport expires.
