Steps to Apply through Express Entry:

  1. Eligibility Check: Determine if you are eligible for Express Entry by meeting the criteria of one of the three main categories.

  2. Language Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in either English or French by taking a recognized language test.

  3. Educational Credential Assessment (ECA): Have your foreign educational credentials assessed to ensure they are equivalent to Canadian standards.

  4. Create an Express Entry Profile: Create a profile online, providing detailed information about your skills, work experience, and other factors.

  5. Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA): If you score well on the CRS, you will be invited to apply for permanent residency.

  6. Submit Your Application: Submit your complete application, including all required documents, within 60 days of receiving an ITA.

  7. Medical and Police Checks: Undergo medical examinations and provide police clearances.

  8. Permanent Residency: If your application is approved, you will receive permanent residency and can start your new life in Canada.

Canadian Experience Class

  • for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience
  • work experience must have been gained in the 3 years before you apply

Federal Skilled Worker Program

  • for skilled workers with foreign work experience
  • must meet criteria for education and other factors

Federal Skilled Trades Program

  • for skilled workers who are qualified in a skilled trade
  • must have a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification

If you’re eligible for one of the above programs, you can also apply through Express Entry for the Provincial Nominee Program. If you’re nominated, you’ll get extra points so you can be invited to apply quickly.
