The AAIP is an economic immigration program in Canada that facilitates the individuals to apply for permanent residence in Alberta. The candidates who want to apply for AAIP must have skills and job-experience to fill job vacancies in Alberta’s labour market. Individuals with the intention of starting a business in Alberta can also apply under Alberta Advantage Immigration Program. This program is regulated by the government of Alberta and Canada.

The Permanent Resident applications are managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. The Federal government makes final decisions on these applications.

AAIP Streams

There are different AAIP Streams you can get nominated for:

Workers Stream

There are 2 AAIP streams for the foreign workers who are living and working in Alberta, and planning to continue their stay and work:

Alberta Opportunity Stream: This stream is for the qualified individuals who live and work in Alberta and already have a new job offer from an employer in Alberta. If you qualify under this criterion, you can apply for an AAIP nomination.

Alberta Express Entry Stream: This stream is for qualified individuals who have an Express Entry profile and qualify to be invited by AAIP to apply for nomination for permanent residence.

Rural Renewal Stream: Qualified candidates with a job offer to work in a rural Alberta community can apply for the Rural Renewal Stream.

Streams for Business Owners or Entrepreneurs

There are 4 AAIP streams for the foreign entrepreneurs who are planning to live in Alberta and start a business here:

International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream:
 This AAIP scheme is for the international graduates of approved Alberta post-secondary institutions and want to start a business or buy an existing business. If you qualify under this criterion, you can submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream: This stream is for the foreign graduates from outside of Canada. If you qualify under this stream, you can apply for the PR program in Canada through AAIP.

Rural Entrepreneur Stream:
Immigrant entrepreneurs from outside of Canada can apply for Permanent Residence.

Farm Stream:
Experienced farmers who plan to buy or start a farm in Alberta can apply for permanent residence.
